Club History
The club was formed in July 1993 when the Black Notley Community Association took shape following a public meeting of villagers. They wished to save the Recreation Hall and heated outdoor swimming pool from dereliction following closure by the health authority. The premises were no longer viable as a social club for staff of a hospital being run down prior to closure.
The Local Authority was persuaded to acquire the premises on the understanding a community association would be formed to take on management of activities and services. The table tennis club was one of the founding groups within the association.
The club has grown dramatically over the years starting with just one team in its first year (1994/5) and 3 in its second season. Now 8 teams compete in the Braintree and District Table Tennis League along with a junior team in the Chelmsford Click League.
The club also runs coaching sessions on Sundays. For details ring Keith Martin on 01245 469273 or 07973 711285
